Windows XP Media Center Edition. | Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. GET RID OF THIS TEN CHARACTER THINGY. Link invalid Misleading button Misleading title Misleading description Dumb site. Thanks, you professional company you, for publishing a fake download just to get ad revenue. It barely seems true! Why would Microsoft even upload a copy of their OS for people to pirate. December 16, 2013 | By jonn0. 2013-12-16 02:49:21 | By jonn0. | Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Cnet, just like every other download site, has become synonymous with the word CON. From day one on the Internet, download sites like Cnet, try to fool you with big green buttons, into downloading a download manager or some other software you do not want. Usually they make the download link difficult to see or find. This download for media center has brought them into another category completely. i.e. the category of "we don't give a ****", we just want you to click a link so we, (Cnet), can make some money with Microsoft, and screw you the internet user. This user will not be visiting Cnet again. You should do the same. Waste of time guys, there is no download to be had on this page. | Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. None, the download does not exist. The download does not exist. Micro$oft won't let you get a good copy of windows, they only let you get what they want. Vista sucks, and 7 ain't much better. I don't know what the hell is wrong with cnet but this should be removed. I ran 7 for a couple of months and found too many things missing that XP has and didn't like the features it had, most are useless. MS says media center don't work with XP, you have to install win 7, but Windows XP media center edition has media center so why can't I get a copy of media center for my copy of XP pro. STUPID MS. Reply by tonystess on October 23, 2012. by the way media center does wk w\ xp. I know that 1st. hand. I mean just 2 let u know, it does! And it wks great. Windows vista and windows 7 are great opearating systems. Reply by Kruug on August 9, 2011. The media center program does not work with XP, which is why they released Windows XP Media Center Edition. you have to have that special edition to use media center with XP. Your options are XP Home, XP Pro, or XP Media Center. Please Remove this Link to WMC. February 23, 2011 | By rake69. 2011-02-23 17:47:56 | By rake69. | Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I kinda Like it on my W7 Machine. CNET Sucks for misleading us to think we can download WMC for XP, I give CNET one star because I cannot give them ZERO stars. Their are other media center softwares that support the "standard" video file formats, unlike WMC, which only generates WTV files, then needs to be converted to view by most ALL TVs. Microsoft Con Job. September 21, 2010 | By Rick6981. 2010-09-21 18:54:45 | By Rick6981. | Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. None - the download now takes you to Microsoft Window 7 buy it now from Microsoft. Microsoft wants your money. Please remove this page from CNet. Reply by sailor502009 on January 25, 2011. This review was very helpful because it has, at last, shown me that Microsoft don't care about being fair! Tv programs that worked fine when first set up on XP media version now don't work; and they want to charge for upgrading to windows 7. I can buy a full blown flat screen TV for half the price. Reply by sailor502009 on January 25, 2011. This review was very helpful because it has, at last, shown me that Microsoft couldn't give a **** about being fair! Tv programs that worked fine when first set up on XP media version now don't work; and they want to charge for upgrading to windows 7. They can go and **** them selves! I can buy a full blown flat screen TV for half the price. no link to product. February 02, 2010 | By jc364. 2010-02-02 10:27:23 | By jc364. | Version: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. None, since the product cannot be downloaded. The name of this download is "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005". However, if you click "Download Now", all you see is a link to upgrade to Windows 7, to "enjoy the latest on Windows Media Center. The bottom line is that if you want to download Windows Media Center, even the XP version of Windows Media Center, you are going to have to upgrade to Windows 7. And the only reason I can think of is that Microsoft wants your money. Reply by jc364 on December 5, 2011. @jcasetnl Sorry, just saw your reply. Your sarcasm is noted. When I wrote the review, I was frustrated that I couldn't just download Media Center by itself. I was also frustrated by MS excluding XP support from its products for the sole purpose of pushing people to the new OS. However, it's unimportant. This review was almost 2 years ago, and people should definitely be looking for something else by now, even if it's not Windows. Windows 7 is great, but people should go with Ubuntu if the upgrade is cost-prohibitive; desktop Linux has come a long ways, and the upgrades are free. Also, I know it seems silly to expect that links to "XP Media Center Edition" point to XP Media Center Edition and not something else. Maybe it's CNET's problem, and they just need to take down this faulty download listing. Reply by jcasetnl on April 19, 2011. Now that is amazing - I can not believe Microsoft would have the gall to link to their new, updated product after their previous version based on an operating system that is over 10 years old is past its life. And they also want to charge money for it. Completely unbelievable. Thank you for your excellent review and sage words. no friggin way.
