Photo to VCD SVCD DVD has a title that pretty much explains its functionality - it allows you to create an image slideshow and convert it to the MPEG format for VCDs, SVCDs and DVDs. The interface of the application is very plain and easy to work with. You can import images by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported. In the list you can check out the name, width and height, type and rotation of each picture. So, you can arrange them in the list, rotate them, preview the output clip and change the width and height of the video. But you can also specify the output destination, TV system type (NTSC or PAL) and the total length of the photo show, before proceeding with the conversion process. Furthermore, you can add background music from your hard drive and preview it (you can view its total play time), clear the list, save the project, and others. During the conversion job you can check out a progress bar, the current frame and play time, along with the estimated file size. No message pops up at the end to tell you if the task was a success of not. The tool runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-written help file with snapshots and didn t freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests. The image and sound quality of the output MPG files is very good. However, Photo to VCD SVCD DVD doesn t let you configure transitions in any way (they are randomly selected by the tool). You can actually see them before conversion, if you preview the clip. Even so, we recommend Photo to VCD SVCD DVD to all users who prefer a straightforward, low-demanding tool.
